Yokai, is a commentary on societal pressure over Japanese women.

This character embodies the beauty canon established in Japan, that favours pale skin and youthful appearance. This preference makes the use of sun visors common amongst Japanese women, which fully conceal their identities.

The character  tells a story that dips in and out of tradition.  It is common in Japanese folklore to depict elderly women as demons, or carriers of evil. The mask is fully made out of sun visors, whilst the rest of the garment is rooted in solemnity and tradition.
